ENGLISH It took me a while to think up an interesting out-of-the house event for the weekend, but I think I got it. I will go ice skating in the next town over tomorrow. It's also next to a mall, so I might go and check that out - I always feel mellow after skating. I thought of going to a hockey game or an opera, but I wouldn't be making it to the opera time-wise today, and it's no fun going to the hockey alone. I will try to organize a group for some other weekend.

The weather was gorgeous today, about 50 degrees, sunny and slightly breezy. It was a pleasure to walk about for an hour while my car was in service (oil change, air filter change, and windshield wiper change). One thing I love about my town is that it is completely walkable, and the main street is lined with shop and there are always people on foot. I am so dead tired of the dreadful suburbia where everyone drives, and if you walk people don't even try to disguise their staring. I made it to the library, too - I decided to read up on what people who bash the Big Pharma say about us (and they say a lot of bullshit, BTW, judging by the quick browsing I did so far). I also got a book that caught my eye - "Fat Land" by Greg Critser. I highly recommend it - his language is enjoyable, and the subject coverage fascinating - how America got fatter and fatter since the 50's and what drove the change. Correlates with my theory about disappearing sense of personal responsibility, too. My respect for Schwarzenegger grew substantially (though I always liked him) and my opinion of Bill Clinton dropped even lower (though there wasn't much room for falling left, let me tell you).
