(no subject)

Yesterday I was talking to Sarah and she said: "Go to World Market, you will find that Christmas came early. You can't miss it, it's right in the middle of the store and not too expensive." I was intrigued and went after work today. They had Mozartkugeln! I danced all the way through the store and then from the store to my car. Then I wanted to buy a bottle of Grüner Veltliner to invite her over and have a wine night. Well, apparently it's not available in Nebraska as it is not on the list of alcoholic beverages allowed for import into Nebraska. Oh well.

The funny thing is, when I asked about it in the Hy-Vee wine department, saying it was an Austrian wine, they took me to the selection of Australian wines. I said that no, it's AustRIA, not AustRALIA. The man (35-40 years old) looked me in the eye and asked it that was the same. No, I answered. He thought hard and asked if Austria is close to New Zealand, because they also have New Zealand wines. No, I said, that's Australia. Then he asked what's the difference, and I explained that Australia is a continent in the south, with kangaroos, and Austria is a country in Europe, with mountains. All the while I was remembering Tethra's "No kangaroos in Austria" T-shirt and tried not to laugh.
