(no subject)

Well, my hard drive is very, very dead. The service couldn't recover anything from it. They offered to send it for advanced recovery, but that costs $250-$1600, and I am pretty sure my photos and old schoolwork are not worth THAT much. Anyway, that puts me before a hard choice $140 for a new hard drive (with installation) or a new laptop. I have checked, and it seems that I can use my system recovery disks with the new hard drive. If that is indeed the case, then I would rather do that and have my good old laptop with Windows XP and Office XP. An alternative would be buying a brand new laptop (I am not too excited about them, nor about spending money, since the laptops I like always have the same price tag, year to year, $1000-$1200, just what you get for that money changes :D). If that is indeed true, that I can use system recovery disks with a new hard drive, then I will do that.
