North-Central Nebraska

I am scratched all over by the vicious prairie plants (some have needles so long, then drew blood as I was tearing through), but happy nonetheless. Waterfalls are worth the risk, even if the risk amounts to rattlesnakes, sand that can break down under you step at any time, and very, very prickly plants all over. I will be flying home tomorrow, so I will get pictures posted.

Pity that we had only limited time so we didn't hit the heart of the Sandhills... still, I got my taste of the desert on the shifting sand, and prickly plants. And saw more cows, haystacks, and corn fields than I have seen in a very, very long time. And experienced the small-town Nebraska warmth and hospitality. I have met wonderful people, who treated me way nicer than I deserve to be treated just about everywhere I went, but it never ceases to amaze me when I encounter it...
