Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I

I went to see the new Harry Potter movie after work today. I don't normally go to see a movie on the opening night (for LotR I did, of course), but today was just so convenient... Among other things, I am not at all eager to go to a movie theater in the area where I live, since the area overall is rather ghetto-ish. I dread thinking what a movie watching experience with this type of people in the audience would be... so I checked out the two theaters within a couple miles from work, one on my way home, the other in the opposite direction. The reviews were better for the one further up North, so that's where I decided to go. Perfectly nice, albeit older, theater... when I saw that the audience was 90% teenagers (I swear I saw less than ten people who looked older than 17, and then there were some younger kids, but just about everyone looked high school age, which explains why the parking lot was less than full - parents dropped off a lot of them at the theater and drove off), I got slightly worried, but they were great. Only one chatty group in the front of the theater, and they got shushed every time, so no problems. Quite a few were sporting Gryffindor scarves or ties, too...

Just as I was leaving the theater, I heard all those groups around me discussing the movie and saying how some scenes were butchered compared to how they were in the book... I couldn't help but feel nostalgic for when I would watch the LotR movies with the people from the old Imladris and then discuss them for a good hour, in the frigid December wind, unable to break it off... I miss that. I kind of miss the old Imladris/CoE... it still exists, and some of the old people still go there occasionally, but that sense of camaraderie that united us - for me, that's pretty much gone. Such a pity... and some people I would really love to hear from, they have dropped off the face of the Internet altogether.
