1. What do you do for a living?
I am a pharmacist intern, aka a Walgreens' Slave. That means I do almost everything a pharmacist does but get paid less than third of what they are.
2. What do you like most about your job?
The people and the job. I love my coworkers, almost all of them, and those I don't like I don't dislike either. And I enjoy helping people, and learning new things, and overall working in a pharmacy is a very emotionally gratifying experience.
3. What do you like least about your job?
Sometimes nasty people come and spoil my mood, but our pharmacy is in a very nice neighbourhood, I don't get more than one nasty person in three shifts or something like that. Mindless busywork is occasionally annoying too, though generally I don't mind it. Oh, counters are too low. Then definitely didn't plan on people being 5'10" plus heels when they were building this Walgreens. I heard that newer ones have higher counters. My back hurts when I have to count and fill for extended periods of time.
4. When you have a bad day at work it's usually because _____...
A nasty person comes and spoils my good mood. Or I mess up majorly. Both occasions are rare.
5. What other career(s) are you interested in?
Generally, I have chosen pharmacy, and it is a bitsy too late to turn back, especially considering all the money that went into pre-pharmacy and pharmacy programs so far. THere are more than 80 different careers available for pharmacists, and I am not 100% sure what I want to do yet, I have almost three years before I have to decide, even more if I go into residency and/or fellowship. I think I want to get an MBA also and work for industry.
